The Bulgarian Union of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications (CEEC) is a national scientific-technical “non-governmental, non-political, and non-profit creative and professional association – part of the civil society in the Republic of Bulgaria”.
CEEC is a member of the Federation of the Scientific-Technical Unions in Bulgaria (FNTS), which is itself a permanent member of the European Federation of Engineering National Associations (FEANI) and participates actively in the discussions at the General Assembly.
In 2015 CEEC celebrated its 50th anniversary. On the 20th of May 1965 during the congress of the Union of Electrical Engineering the representatives of the Bulgarian electrical engineers voted for the establishment of an independent organization.
For over half a century CEEC has been the publisher of the peer reviewed scientific journal "ELECTROTECHNICA+ELECTRONICA" - "E+E".
The website of the journal is epluse.ceec.bg
The main goals and objectives of CEEC are:
To unite the efforts of its members, facilitate the creation of better environment for their creative and professional development, as well as to provide more efficient participation in the process of formation of the Bulgarian civil society, acting as a consulting body and government corrective in the areas of the science and economics
To promote the interests of its members in negotiating with the governmental and local institutions
To enhance and expand its international contacts and develop mutually helpful collaborations with similar associations in Bulgaria and abroad
To help in the improvement of the scientific and professional qualifications of its members by organizing conferences, workshops, discussions, as well as by collecting and dissemination of scientific and technical information, and establishment of in-house publishing activity
To raise the prestige of the electrical engineering, electronics and telecommunication technologies in the civil society, to raise awareness of these professions with regards to state and local institutions, and help in forming positive public opinion towards continuous lifelong learning
To work for promotion of the social status of the technical intellectuals by developing and submitting drafts of normative acts to the governmental institutions
Special focus, attention and care is directed towards the joint activities with the engineering companies and the young engineers.
CEEC maintains regular contacts with similar organizations abroad. For over ten years CEEC has had a signed agreement with VDE – Germany. Close relations have been established with SEP – the Association of Polish Electrical Engineers and SIER – Society of Power Engineers in Romania. CEEC maintains regular contacts with IEEE based on a long-term agreement, signed more than decade years ago. All international conferences organized by CEEC are supported and partially sponsored by the Bulgarian section of IEEE.
CEEC, in the form of professional association, has existed under various names ever since 1936, initially as a division of Electrical Engineering at the National organization of the Bulgarian Engineers and Architects (BIAD) and later – as individual national scientific-technical union for electrical engineering within FNTS. Under the name “Union of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications (CEEC)” it has existed since 1982, with its last registration at the Sofia Municipal Court - Corporate division, dated 1992 (presently valid).
CEEC has individual members throughout Bulgaria.
The structural entities within CEEC are as follows: regional organizations in most major cities in Bulgaria; local clubs and national scientific-technical divisions.
CEEC has several corporate members – companies working in the field of electrical engineering, electronics and Telecommunications as well miscellaneous public organizations and NGOs.
CEEC organizes variety of scientific and topical events of international and regional reach, including:
International Symposium on Electrical Apparatus and Technologies (SIELA), held since 1971, periodicity: 2 years, the Proceedings published in English
International conference on Electrical Machines, Drives and Power Systems (ELMA), since 1975, periodicity: 3 years, the Proceedings published in English
National conferences with international participation on: electronics, telecommunications, electron-beam technologies, problems of the solar-terrestrial physical interactions, acoustics etc.
CEEC maintains permanent business contacts with the representatives of several large multinationals in Bulgaria: SIEMENS, ABB, Schneider Electric, General Electric, Liebher, etc., as well as with many Bulgarian companies and organizations. Especially rewarding is our collaboration with the National Branch Chambers for Electrical Engineering (NCET) and Electronic Industry and Informatics (BCEPI).
CEEC maintains business relations with the Bulgarian State Agency for Information Technologies and Communications.
